How to beat Pufferfish
Give the Desert Tourist a catch marked Endangered Species, take the Carrot, and cast it only after you are ready. Keep a palm tree between you and the rolling Pufferfish, keep firing while you move, and widen your circle when purple poison appears. Pick up the Pufferfish Fin and return it to the Tourist for the Island 4 coordinates.

- 01 · Get the trade
Bring the Tourist an endangered catch
Use the Standard Lure in Desert waters and inspect each catch before selling or cooking it. The Tourist wants the Endangered Species tag, not one fixed species. Needlefish and Seahorse are reliable examples.
- 02 · Take the trigger
Exchange the catch for one Carrot
The Tourist sits beneath a palm tree. Hand him the tagged catch and keep the Carrot he gives you. The Carrot is consumed when you cast, so finish shopping before you use it.
- 03 · Start the fight
Equip the Carrot and cast from Desert Island
The Pufferfish appears immediately. Move toward the palm trees as soon as the encounter starts and watch the white escape bar beneath its health.
- 04 · Finish the route
Return the Pufferfish Fin—not the meat
Check the drops after the kill, take the small Pufferfish Fin back to the Tourist, and collect the coordinates for Island 4 · Rocks.
The fight
Turn the arena into your shield
Pufferfish wins when you stop moving. Your job is to keep clean sand ahead of you and a palm trunk between each charge.
Run and gun—never plant your feet
The safe damage window happens while you are already moving. Long stationary bursts let the boss close the gap and pin you against the trunk or shop.
Treat purple ground as closed ground
Later in the fight the enlarged Pufferfish leaves purple poison behind it. Widen the loop and move onto clean sand instead of following the boss through its trail.
Beat the white bar, not just the health bar
The white bar under the boss health is its escape timer. Keep dealing damage between charges or the encounter ends and your Carrot is gone.
Fix the failed run
What went wrong?
Use the symptom, make one correction, and go again.
The Tourist rejects the fish
Inspect it again. It must carry the Endangered Species tag; species name or Drip status alone does not count.
The boss never appears
Equip the Carrot as the active lure on Desert Island. A Standard Boss Lure does not summon Pufferfish.
You die beside the tree
Do not hug the trunk. Leave enough room to circle so the boss gets blocked while you keep moving.
The next island stays locked
Pick up the Pufferfish Fin and hand it to the Tourist. Killing the boss alone does not finish the route.
