Read the long body
The Pike commits along its length; cross the approach instead of retreating along it.
Island 2 · Forest · Optional mini-boss
Use the Beginner Boss Lure with the Fishing Rod on Forest Island. The lure can produce The Old Pike or Sunfish. Choose open ground, strafe across its lunges, and keep enough pressure on the escape bar. It is optional, so sell or cook it after the Fishipedia entry registers.
Trigger → fight → hand-in
Do not confuse it with the cheaper regular Beginner Lure.
Leave lateral space before the boss lands and clear nearby ordinary threats.
Keep it in view, strafe across committed movement, and fire while it turns.
No NPC needs this catch. Once recorded, it is yours to sell, cook or keep.
The fight
Pufferfish wins when you stop moving. Your job is to keep clean sand ahead of you and a palm trunk between each charge.
The Pike commits along its length; cross the approach instead of retreating along it.
Use the time it spends correcting direction for safe damage.
Do not let the waterline or shop trap your retreat.
This optional catch is easier after weapon upgrades from later islands.
Fix the failed run
Use the symptom, make one correction, and go again.
Both bosses share the lure pool. Another Beginner Boss Lure gives another roll.
You equipped Beginner Lure, not Beginner Boss Lure.
Keep dealing safe ranged damage between dodges; watch the white bar.
The Old Pike is optional. Giant Piranha controls story progression.
